Stump the Ump#1
Situation 1 – In a Little League baseball game, the batter comes up to the plate with a bat that is 33 inches long and 2 ¼ inches in diameter. However, it is only 25 ounces in weight and the defense says it is an illegal bat. The umpire agrees and makes the batter get another bat. Correct or incorrect?
For the answer highlight below:
Situation 1 – Answer: Incorrect. Rule 1.10. The weight to length restriction only applies to bats in the Senior and Big League programs. As long as the bat is 2 ¼” in diameter and has the inscriptions, “Little League Approved” and BPF 1.15 and is not dented/deformed, it is legal.
